Arlington ISD Eddy & Debbie Peach Elementary School
Arlington ISD's Eddy and Debbie Peach Elementary School is a brand new school located in north Arlington serving Pre-Kindergarten through 6th Grade students. The project is located on a 9.7-acre site with access from Baird Farm Road just north of Interstate-30. The school features 6 core classrooms per grade level including one collaboration space per grade level. Along with music, art, and STEM classrooms, a centralized state of the art Media Center highlights a few of the school's special programmed spaces. This school also includes a Boys and Girls Club, which shares spaces with the Cafetorium and Gymnasium. The school has a playful design that is noticed as soon as you enter the site. The circles flow from Baird Farm Road to highlight a large green cylinder piece.
This curvy and dominant element flows through the building with the use of the bold green colors and playful shapes that culminate into the heart of the building in the Media Center. The Media Center is the center of all of the dynamic moves as the circles and playfulness extend into the outdoor courtyard and out through to the playfields. Within this central zone includes the Art and STEM classrooms on the second level. The classrooms open up to a protected outdoor learning terrace for interaction with the sky and views to the front of the site. The public and classroom spaces are located to the north and south of this playful core, allowing a more structured and secure means for the functionality of the building.
Completed while at Perkins+Will, Patrick Glenn served as the Managing Principal, Educational Programmer and Planner while Dan Holt served at the Project Architect and Aaron Ewert as the Project Designer working on all stages of schematic design through construction.
