McKinney Christian Academy
McKinney Christian Academy is a Christian school that serves grades Pre-K through 12. The Campus Master Plan combines renovations and new buildings to merge an existing campus into a connected community. New buildings include an Upper School, Lower School, Middle School Gymnasium, and a multi-purpose community MCA building. The Upper School and MCA building work in tandem to form the new face of the campus, presenting a brand of collegiate sophistication to the McKinney community.
The MCA building serves as a campus hub that provides a new media center, cafeteria, and spirit store, along with central administrative office spaces. The Upper School houses administrative offices, classrooms, labs, cyber café, and study hall. The existing Student Life Center will remain as the Upper School multi-purpose space. Middle School students will move from the deck portables to the existing but renovated Upper School building and will have their own multi-purpose gymnasium to the east. The Lower School includes courtyards to reinforce MCA’s focus on outdoor education and student interaction among grade levels. A central circular fire lane has been re-imagined as a central gathering space to serve as the nucleus of campus activity. A north to south pedestrian thoroughfare connects the entire 60-acre campus into a connected community school.
Completed while at Perkins+Will, Patrick Glenn served as the Managing Principal and Educational Programmer while Nick Nepveux served as the Educational Planner and Project Designer working on all stages of schematic design through construction.
