Richardson ISD Sherman Administration Building
Richardson ISD purchased several properties along Sherman Street. The goal of the 616 location was to house several administrative positions including educational specialists and the assistant superintendent of the district. Currently, these positions are dispersed among several campuses. The design goal was to create a professional space that would accommodate several different work types and styles.
A combination of open and private offices as well as flexible collaboration space will allow the users ownership and variety. Breakrooms, workrooms, and a full-service print shop round out the program. The print shop is utilized by both the district and the public and is currently located in the operations center. It was vital that the new space fit all their current equipment as well as provide space for growth.
The existing tilt wall construction provided some constraints but through extensive coordination with our consultants we were able to extend the level 2 floor plate to increase the number of offices and add punched openings to allow access to daylight from each office. A new, fiber cement panel façade and storefront at the entry vestibules will revitalize the exterior and provide opportunities for district branding. Full FF&E specifications and custom vinyl wall graphics were also provided services that will make the facility feel cohesive and help convey the mission of Richardson ISD.
