Ursuline Academy West Campus Building Addition & Renovation
The original and existing Main Hall and Cass Hall located in the West Campus Building will be fully renovated to accommodate relocated Administration vacated by the construction of the new East Campus Academic | Performing Arts Building. In addition to a re-organization of Administration and Student Services spaces, additional classrooms and public spaces will also be renovated bringing the original classroom wing up to modern standards of next-generational learning. Lingering building maintenance and ADA issues will also be addressed, repaired and fixed during the renovations for Main Hall and Cass Hall.
An 8,000sf two-story building addition is planned for the west side of the campus. The new addition will allow for a new west side business entry located on the ground level for spaces including the President’s Office, Advancement, Communications, Business | Finance and Human Resources. The upper level of the new building addition will allow the existing Haggar Dining Hall to double in size in order to provide much needed additional space for student dining activities along with before and after school student clubs meetings. The existing Kitchen and Servery will be fully renovated and expanded providing multiple food stations sprinklered throughout the dining hall for increased choice and operation.
The existing campus Chapel located in St Ursula will be demolished as part of the phase 2 construction activities for the new East Campus Academic | Performing Arts Building. The new Student Chapel will be located in the vacated Music Hall and will accommodate approximately 3,500sf of space and 250 students. Existing stain glass windows will be removed from St Ursula and re-introduced into the design for the new chapel space serving as a beautiful, lit backdrop to chapel services tying into the warm, wood ceiling feature.
With the new 1,000 student theater as part of the new East Campus Academic | Performing Arts Building, the existing UCPA will be renovated back into it’s original programmed and intended purpose; a practice gym serving the school’s growing basketball and volleyball athletic teams. In addition to re-introducing the original gymnasium that will serve as a practice gym, additional athletic locker room space will added providing students and athletes additional and flexible athletic support amenities.
The existing UCPA stage will be retro-fitted and transformed into a single and much larger Athletic Weight Room for the school’s student athletes. The new Weight Room will house modern fitness and strength training equipment with additional space dedicated for plyo-metric and aerobic exercise and activities.
